A fiesta!
Yesterday we had a fiesta for Ian's birthday. He is our host parent's grandchild, and he turned five. We stopped by the mall on our way home and bought him a small truck. We've seen him playing with cars and trucks at the house and had a good feeling that he would like it. We were right! :)
We sang songs, including Happy Birthday (in English), and then Ian blew out the candle on the cake. We also ate sub sandwiches. Our host family is great. They really let us participate and be part of the family. For example, I'm pretty confident that the party would have went exactly the same if we weren't there. They were being themselves and allowed us to be part of it. Here are some photos. Our host dad, Edy, is the one with the guitar. Our GuateMomma, Mayra, is the one with short hair in the third photo. Ian's mom, Bianca, is also in the photos. (Bianca is Pedro's sister-in-law.)

P.S. There's another post from today below!
